In August 2014, thanks to Dr Andrea Mordacci, a Tribal Himalayan Art lover and expert, for the first time a meeting between the most important representatives of the market of Tribal Himalayan Arts was held. This was an attempt to propose a new aesthetical and qualitative foundation and a more precise stylistic identity to Tribal Himalayan arts. The “Himalayan gaze” met the European world that “looks” at Himalaya, thanks to the unique and original dialogue between Italian artists Filippo Biagioli (with his ritual cloths) and Enzo Mordacci (with his paintings on paper), the main characters of a new “tribal European vision”. This experience resulted with a collaboration between the European tribal artist Filippo Biagioli and the Blue Moon Gallery Curio Shop in Kathmandu. In this arts space, owned by the gallerist Shiva Bhandari, there were already many important Tribal Himalayan art pieces such as: Newari windows, shamanic drums, Tibetan furniture and chests, wooden and bronze sculptures, Tibetan beds, shamanic chairs, ghurra, spoons used to make butter, Putali figures, Tibetan screens, sculpted doors, musical bowls. However, this large collection is now enriched by a selection of “prayer figures” and “ritual cloths” by Filippo Biagioli. Starting today, this works will be part of the gallery’s permanent exhibition. Contact info: Blue Moon Curio Shop J.P.
